Starting today, patrons of the Guelph Public Library will enjoy a new digital experience with the Library’s new catalogue, website, and suite of digital tools that modernize how they search collections, access information, register for programs, and interact with other library users. The old website will go down at 11 a.m. with the new website live by 1 p.m.
All patrons will need to register and set up their account on the new website using their library card barcode and PIN number from the old system to set up their account the first time.
The new website and catalogue offers enhanced smart searching, themed collections that mirror displays you might see in Library branches, easier access to book recommendations, digital shelves for your “To Be Read” lists, and interactive features like star ratings and book reviews.
“Our new website and catalogue experience, powered by BiblioCommons, transforms the digital experience for patrons making browsing intuitive, engaging, and accessible,” says Michelle Campbell, Deputy CEO of the Library. “Most importantly, we’ve found a way to build an engaging and immersive community online that matches what patrons bring to our branches.”
Download the new Library app
In addition to the refreshed website and catalogue, the Library now has an app called Guelph Public Library, available through the App Store for Apple devices and an app for Android devices will be available through Google Play in the coming weeks.
From the app, patrons can browse the catalogue, place holds, manage their accounts and digital shelves, donate, and read Library news.
