eBooks and eAudiobooks

  • CloudLibrary works with a huge range of e-reading devices. Learn how to use your device with CloudLibrary. 

  • The Guelph Public Library partners with the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) to provide a collection of books, magazines, and newspapers in accessible formats for patrons with print disabilities. A print disability is a visual, physical, or learning disability that prevents a person from reading conventional print.

    To register for CELA please contact the library or self-register on the CELA website. You will need to provide your library card number to complete the registration process.

  • Step 1: Install Adobe Digital Editions (ADE)

    Before you begin, make sure your computer has the latest version of Adobe Digital Editions (version 4.5 or later).

    Step 2: Authorize Your Computer and eReader

    1. Open ADE

    2. Navigate to Help > Authorize Computer

    3. Sign in with your Adobe ID. If needed, create a new account.

    4. Connect your e-reader via USB

    5. In ADE’s left panel, locate your e-reader

    6. Click the gear icon next to your device’s name

    7. Choose Authorize Device

    Step 3: Borrow and Download eBooks from CloudLibrary

    1. Go to Guelph Public Library’s CloudLibrary

    2. Log in using your library card number and PIN

    3. Borrow a title

    4. On the book’s details page, click Download for offline reading

      • The file will save to your computer’s default Downloads folder

    Step 4: Add eBook to Adobe Digital Editions

    Option A – Open from Browser Downloads:

    • Find the downloaded file and double-click to open in ADE

    Option B – Manually Add to ADE Library:

    1. In ADE, go to File > Add to Library

    2. Locate your downloaded file

    3. Open the file to import it into ADE

    Step 5: Transfer eBook to Your eReader

    1. Ensure your eReader is connected and authorized

    2. In ADE, locate your device under the Devices section

    3. Drag the desired eBook(s) from your ADE library to the e-reader

      • Alternatively, right-click and select Copy, then paste into the device

    4. Safely eject your e-reader:

      • In File Explorer (Windows), right-click the device and choose Eject

      • Unplug the device from your computer
